Golden Chlorella has the ability to reduce cholesterol and decrease hypertension, both of which can lead to cardiovascular problems & arteriosclerosis (the hardening and thickening of artery walls). It may also prevent hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis.
According to several studies carried out on animals, chlorella has the ability to prevent the absorption of saturated and trans fats. It can reduce the levels of triglycerides and bad cholesterol (LDL). Golden Chlorella can decrease the ratio of total cholesterol / good cholesterol (HDL), the risk indicator of coronary heart disease.
Japanese studies carried out on humans, have shown that chlorella induces a significant reduction in the percentage of body fat, total serum cholesterol and fast-release sugars.
The ability of activating insulin signals and increasing the catabolism of cholesterol through a hepatic regulation, could explain the Chlorella hypoglycemic properties.
In 2006, researchers showed that Chlorella reduces blood glucose levels by increasing its absoption by the liver. And in 2009, Lee demonstrated in rats that Chlorella was effective in regulating blood glucose levels and thus could prevent insulin resistance. Its results are in line with those of Mizoguchi, who in 2008 demonstrated in humans that chlorella was able to activate the signal insulin and thus limit the blood sugar release levels. The hypoglycaemic action of Chlorella is due to the CGF (Chlorella Growth Factor) present in the microalgae.
The Chlorella microalgae also inhibits in vitro the formation of AGEs (Advanced Glycation End products), complex sugars that lead to the development of pathologies such as diabetes and arteriosclerosis.
In 2009, Dr. Randall Marchant presented the results of the Chlorella research and the metabolic syndrome effect during The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine conference. Dr. Randall Marchant explained that “a daily intake of Chlorella helps maintain healthy levels of body fat, blood pressure, total good cholesterol and sugar.
Dyslipidemia is associated with a diet that is too high in fat. Chlorella may reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
